Cabin ANNA

In August 2025, Caspar Schols and members of his team flew from The Netherlands to Vermont to oversee the installation of the first Cabin ANNA in North America here at Sajima Farm. This journey started during the pandemic when I read a magazine article about Caspar receiving a design award for his unique cabin. I was floored by the photos of this shape shifting structure.

I sent an email inquiry that started a conversation about his goals in selecting cabin sites around the world, and how I envisioned incorporating Cabin ANNA into my farm.

It has been a life changing experience to make this cabin my home. It is more than a residential structure. It is living art. My cabin connects me to the land by making me part of the landscape more than resting on top of it. I change the configurations to adapt to the weather and my mood. Every movement is intentional requiring me to exert effort in the absence of any buttons or automation to change the shape of the cabin.

This keeps me in synch with the way I farm – simply, by hand.
